The Book of Brighton and Hove
30th July 2024The Book of Brighton and Hove is a guide book written collaboratively by over 200 children.
Created by London-based artists Andy and Beckie and produced by us as part of Brighton Festival and Caravan 2022, The Book of Brighton and Hove is a guide book written collaboratively by over 200 children from Benfield, Woodingdean, Queen’s Park and St Luke’s Primary schools.
At the beginning of the project each class was given a five-day pack to complete, with a different set of activities each day enabling the children to explore local history, geography, civic society and their own experience of Brighton & Hove through creative writing, drawing and conversation.
The stories, ideas, descriptions and inventions the children created from this activity pack form the basis of the book, ensuring that whatever their preferred way of expressing themselves, everyone in the class is able to participate.
